                          二、舆论的群体极化现象

                          (一)定义

                          关于群体极化概念的研究最早可以追溯到由美国麻省理工学院的詹姆斯·斯托纳在群体决策实验中偶然发现并提出的“冒险转移”:当一个群体在进行讨论并作出决策时,如果大多数人倾向于保守,那么结果是保守的会更保守;相反如果大多数人倾向于冒险,那么经过讨论之后的结果也就更加冒险。在此基础之上,法国心理学家塞奇·莫斯科维奇最早提出了“群体极化”这一概念,他认为群体极化是一种意见在从多数意见中脱颖而出并逐渐极化的过程。2

                          对于群体极化最经典的定义则是由芝加哥大学法学教授凯斯·桑斯坦提出的,他在其着作《网络共和国:网络社会中的民主问题》中将群体极化定义为:“团队成员一开始即有某种偏向,商议之后,它们朝偏向的方向继续移动,后形成极端的观点。”3并且桑斯坦认为,网络群体极化所发生的比例是现实面对面讨论的两倍多。
